Turkish Airlines, also known as THY in Turkey, are planning to start operating direct flights between Istanbul and Dar es Salaam to tap the growing and potential traveler traffic between the two countries. The airline is expected to make a maiden flight into Tanzania in June 2010. This is an important development in the growth of the destination, and with the opening of the Turkish Embassy in Dar es Salaam we expect increased visitor traffic between Tanzania and Turkey, extending into the neighbouring countries in the Black Sea region including Eastern European countries, Ukraine and Russia. Leopard Tours has had the opportunity of handling Turkish visitors, most of them from Turkey itself who had to fly via a third country to get to Tanzania. With the introduction of direct flights, Tanzania will now be closer to the region and travel will be more convenient. According to the airline the fare is going to be very reasonable and affordable for the travelers.
