In Ruaha National Park, the second largest in Tanzania and a few kilometres from the Mdonya Falls. A two hour exciting game drive from the airstrip, this camp, in its simplicity lets you feel absorbed in forest life. The tents are located on the banks of Old Mdonya, now a sand river and which wildlife like to use as a corridor in the wilderness. Best way of getting here ? By aircraft from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar, or by road via Iringa.
NUMBER OF ROOMS & DESCRIPTION:
Scattered under the shade of large sycamore figs and Acacia Albida, there are only 8 twin bedded tents, each with its own toilette and shower. The tents are simple but comfortable, furnished with twin beds veiled by mosquito net and with a large verandah where you can relax on a chaise lounge to observe the wildlife around you.
RESTAURANTS & BAR:
In keeping with the environment and the size of the camp, there is a small central dining area in the shade of the trees. Completely open, dining "al fresco" in Africa on the banks of a sandy river seems bizarre. Experience it once, and especially here, and you will be in love with it forever. Faire is simple and wholesomely adequate. A fully stocked bar services is available.
OTHER FACILITIES & SERVICES:
This is a camp located in the middle of a large wildnerness area so all activities here are designed to optimise the wildlife experience. Sitting in camp with a book and a pair of binoculars may be quite rewarding .. however game drives are flexible, not limited by schedule and obviously cover more ground. Guest get to see and experience a breathtaking mosaic of ecosystems, from the river pools to the dry african savannah, criss crossed with Baobab valleys and enormous granite monoliths.
